Sampson Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the birth of the New Year's Baby.  Baby boy Lucas Jaziel Mejia Alvarado arrived January 3, 2026, at 11:09 pm, weighing 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and 21.75 inches long. Proud parents are Lisbeth Alvarado Alvarez and Angel Mejia Discua. 

In celebration, the family received a special gift basket filled with baby essentials.

"Welcoming the first baby of the New Year is always special, and we are honored to share this joyful moment with this family,” shared Shannon Capps, Director of Obstetrics/Infusion Center.  “It's a moment that fills our hearts with joy and sets the tone for the year ahead. On behalf of the entire OB team at SampsonRMC, congratulations to Lisbeth and Angel. We wish you a year filled with health, happiness, and countless beautiful first moments!"
