Clinton, NC, May 2026: On Thursday, April 23, Sampson Regional Medical Center hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Reception to recognize and celebrate the dedicated individuals who generously give their time in service to patients, families, and staff.
A dedicated team of 20 volunteers and 10 chaplains offer comfort, support, and a compassionate presence across the hospital. From greeting visitors to providing spiritual care during some of life’s most vulnerable moments, they play an essential role in the patient experience. As the needs of our community continue to grow, so does the need for additional volunteers and chaplains. Those looking to make a meaningful impact are encouraged to join this important work and become part of a team committed to serving others.
Among those honored was longtime volunteer Jackie Chapman, who this year celebrates ten years of volunteer service with the organization. Jackie Chapman is a mover who has never been content sitting still. Growing up in Jacksonville, Jackie was raised in a large family that owned a farm, where hard work was not just expected, it was a way of life. Those early years helped shape her strong work ethic, resilience, and determination.
Jackie carried those qualities into an extraordinary 35-year career in Washington, where she served with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Her role as Controller of U.S. Currency placed her at the center of financial operations requiring precision, integrity, and unwavering commitment.
After retiring from federal service, Jackie brought that same dedication home to Sampson County. This year, she marks a decade of volunteer service at Sampson Regional Medical Center, giving her time, energy, and heart to support the hospital’s mission. Jackie’s journey is a testament to a life spent serving others. From her early roots of working on the family farm near Jacksonville to the halls of the Treasury to the welcoming spaces of SampsonRMC, she continues to make a meaningful impact wherever she goes. “We are honored to celebrate Jackie’s ten years of volunteer service and the remarkable legacy she continues to build,” said Judy Naylor, Director of Volunteer Services.
SampsonRMC is also currently seeking additional volunteers who want to make a difference close to home. The hospital is excited to introduce its first ever Sneak Peek Wednesday, a new monthly opportunity for prospective volunteers to learn more about available service roles. On the first Wednesday of each month, participants can enjoy a guided tour of volunteer service areas, meet current team members, and explore where their gifts and talents can make the greatest impact.
