Inpatient Cardiology Services

Sampson Regional Medical Center recently exapnded cardiology services to include a full-time consulting specialist for inpatient care.  Patients admitted to Sampson Regional Medical Center due to general cardiology issues are evaluated and monitored by a board-certified cardiologist, allowing patients to stay closer to home for evaluation and follow-up treatment.  Our inpatient cardiologists will make recommendations and help direct your care including diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and management of heart disease and associated conditions.

The consulting cardiologist will:

  • Provide an initial evaluation
  • Monitor cardiac issues during stay
  • Order needed testing
  • Arrange transfer to specialized cardiac care hospital if necessary
  • Arrange outpatient follow-up after discharge

Inpatient consultation is available for heart conditions related to:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Acute myocardial infarction
  • Pulmonary hypertension
  • Endocarditis
  • Patients with rhythm abnormalities/arrhythmias
  • Chest pain
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Coronary artery disease
  • High blood pressure/high cholesterol
  • Valve disease
