Speak Up- A Patient Safety Program

Sampson Regional Medical Center proudly promotes the Speak Up program sponsored by The Joint Commission, an organization that accredits hospitals and healthcare organizations.

What is the Speak Up Program?

The Speak Up program is a patient safety program that encourages patients to be actively involved in their own health care.  The program urges patients to:

  • Speak up if you have questions or concerns.
  • Pay attention to the care you get.
  • Educate yourself about your illness.
  • Ask a trusted family member or friend to be your advocate (advisor or supporter).
  • Know what medicines you take and why you take them.
  • Use a health care organization that has been carefully checked out.
  • Participate in all decisions about your treatment.

If you are a patient being cared for at SampsonRMC and would like a copy of the Speak Up brochure, please request one from the supervisor on duty.  For more information about the Speak Up program please click here or visit The Joint Commission.
