Joseph Prohaska, hails from Chicago, Illinois and is a third year Dermatology resident at Sampson, where he is currently serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Prohaska completed his undergraduate training Magna cum laude at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology as well as a minor in Philosophy. He attended medical school at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his traditional rotating internship at Hillsdale Hospital in Michigan.
Dr. Prohaska was awarded the Lowell Goldberg Memorial Award during his time at Midwestern University. This prestigious award is given annually by clinical department chairs to the top fourth year medical student based on their clinical performance.
Dr. Prohaska currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina where he enjoys volunteering on the safety team at Lifepoint Church; providing EMS to a church population of 1,000 members during church-wide events. During his spare time he enjoys traveling and reading.
