SampsonRMC welcomes New Physician to Newton Grove

Sampson Regional Medical Center (SampsonRMC) is pleased to announce the addition of Kateland Bennet, D.O., to Sampson Medical Group of Newton Grove.  Dr. Bennett joins Amanda Herrington, PA-C, providing full-spectrum primary care for the entire family, from newborns to older adults, and will provide care to admitted patients of the hospitalist team.

Dr. Bennett completed her undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated medical school at Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine.  She most recently graduated residency training at Sampson Regional Medical Center, where she spent the last three years practicing full-scope family medicine.  Dr. Bennett has experience caring for patients of all ages in outpatient clinics and within the hospital’s inpatient units.

A local to the area, Bennett grew up in Grantham, NC, and looks forward to serving a community nearby her hometown.  “Newton Grove is very close to where I grew up in Grantham, so it will be nice to provide care to the population I know best. I look forward to building a relationship with the Newton Grove community and having the opportunity to give back so close to my hometown,” stated Dr. Bennett.

Dr. Bennett has a special interest in women’s health and can evaluate health concerns for women through each stage of life.  She will also perform many in-office procedures such as pap smears, endometrial biopsies, and colposcopies.  “I have a special focus on women’s health, helping women with the management of menopause, pelvic organ prolapse, post-menopausal bleeding, and various other women’s health concerns,” explained Dr. Bennett.

Amanda Herrington, PA-C, who was recruited to establish the practice five years ago, is also a hometown local. Herrington looks forward to the addition of another provider to the practice.  “I think having an additional provider has many advantages, including greater appointment availability and ultimately better patient care.  I am excited that we are growing and think Dr. Bennett will be a great asset to our practice and Newton Grove,” emphasized Herrington.

The addition of Dr. Bennett expands primary care options for patients seeking care through Sampson Regional Professional Services. Primary care services include routine check-ups, physicals, immunizations, chronic disease screening and management, and acute medical care.

Sampson Medical Group of Newton Grove is located at 301 Main Street, Newton Grove, NC.  To schedule an appointment, call 910-594-0003, or for more information about Sampson Regional’s primary care services, visit www.SampsonRMC.org/SMG.
