The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center specializes in healing chronic wounds, or those wounds that fail to heal two weeks after the onset of the wound, ulcer, or sore. Ultimately, if you have an open area you are uncomfortable with, you should call the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center as soon as possible. Early treatment can help prevent infection, amputation and other more invasive treatments. Physician referrals are always accepted, but patients are also welcome to call for an appointment without a referral.
Diabetes, poor circulation, trauma, and immobility are just a few of the common causes of chronic wounds. Approximately 8 million Americans suffer from chronic or non-healing wounds. At the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center, we take a collaborative approach to getting wounds healed. Constant communication between your wound care team and any other physician involved in you overall health is necessary to ensure a holistic approach to wound healing.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used as an adjunctive treatment option for wounds that fail to heal from conventional wound care protocols. As much as 20% of our patient population could be eligible for hyperbaric therapy. Just as we need oxygen to live, wounds need oxygen to heal. During treatment, patients are monitored in a pressurized chamber where 100% oxygen is released in a contained area, allowing the lungs to gather more oxygen than is possible at normal air pressure. The bloodstream carries the oxygen through the body and subsequently stimulates the release of growth factors that assist in wound healing. This therapy essentially heals you wound from the inside out.
Hyperbaric therapy can fight infection, help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and stimulate the growth of new blood vessel. At the Wound Care Center, we utilize hyperbaric oxygen therapy for treatment of the following conditions: chronic osteomyelitis, crush injuries, diabetic wounds of the lower extremity, osteoradionecrosis, soft tissue radiation injuries, and compromised/failed grafts or flaps.
At your first visit, you should bring any test or lab results you have received within the past three months, or at least know of the dates these were conducted. If no labs or tests have been conducted and/or you do not have such information, there is no need to worry. Our physicians can order what they feel is necessary to assist in healing your wound(s). It is always important to bring a list of your current medications and any other medical history information. Our staff will make sure you are very well cared for at your initial visit and any subsequent visits. Our number one goal at the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center is to heal your wound and make your experience the best it can be.
The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center accepts most insurance plans. Our staff will obtain necessary authorizations to determine coverage for your care.
